Tanking

Tanking, which in its simplest form is the application of a "peel & stick" rubberized Bitumen membrane, is also considered to be structural waterproofing although it may not always be below grade. When it is used below grade it is always installed against vertical retaining walls as part of a complete tanking system that provides membrane continuity around and under a structure. Special care should be taken with product selection where there are high water tables present and little or no natural drainage. Above grade tanking can be used in cavities behind architectral stone and cladding as an effective barrier against water ingress, around opes and columns and as a general damp proof membrane for steps and changes in level.
